BASIC RIGGING SAFETY COURSE


 
     

This one day course is classroom based and is designed to train your Overhead Crane Operators on the basics of rigging.

The purpose of this course is to instruct personnel in the safe use of basic rigging equipment used in your day to day operation. To present an overview of the government guidelines and legislation to familiarize employees with the potential hazards and give them a better understanding of rigging and hoisting safety.

Topics covered include:

  • government guidelines and legislation
  • lift angles
  • calculating weight
  • centre of gravity & balance
  • various types of slings, hooks and hitches
  • safety inspections of rigging

    This course has an examination that has to be completed before a certificate will be issued


    Students must have a reasonable command of written and spoken English to be able to complete this training.


    In some circumstances student will be given an oral examination.


    When registering students please make sure the person taking the registration is aware of students who do not have a reasonable command of English.


    Special arrangements can be made to deliver this training to students with English as a second language. Please discuss this with your Safety Advisor.



    This course must be completed before registering for the Overhead Crane course (MANDATORY).
