FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING


 
     
 

This "Hands-On" Fire Extinguisher Training course is intended to give shop, field and office workers a basic understanding of fire safety and the use and limitations of portable fire-fighting equipment.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course the learner will be able to:

  • Determine the appropriate response to a fire
  • Describe and explain the combustion process
  • List and describe the five classes of fire
  • List the four means by which fires can be extinguished
  • List/describe the four most common types of fire extinguishers
  • Locate the fire extinguisher
  • Determine if the fire extinguisher is appropriate to the class of fire
  • Determine when the fire department is to be called
  • Describe the steps involved in P.A.S.S. (Pull the pin, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)
  • Use a fire extinguisher to control a small fire (practical use)
    Follow basic safety guidelines at all times

Course Times and Location

This "Hands-On" Fire Extinguisher Training is conducted at your site using an environmentally friendly Fire Extinguisher Training Prop and is available from May to September. The training course is approximately 4 hrs long. It is recommended that course participants wear comfortable, casual clothes on the day of training.
