What is an Audit?

An audit is a comprehensive review of an employer’s Health and Safety Management System.

What is the difference between the Regular COR Audit and SECOR?

To qualify for a Regular COR (11+ Total Employees), the audit must be carried out by a Certified MHSA Peer auditor or MHSA Certified Consultant auditor, using an approved and appropriate MHSA audit instrument (Regular COR.

To qualify for a Small Employer SECOR (1-10 Total Employees), the audit must be carried out by an MHSA Assessor or Certified Consultant auditor, using the approved MHSA audit instrument (SECOR) instrument). This is done by using the following 3 types of Validation Techniques:

  • Documentation Review

  • Interviews with employees

  • Worksite observations

Who can conduct MHSA audits for PIR/COR?

Only MHSA certified auditors can conduct audits to qualify for an MHSA Regular COR; an Auditor or Assessor can conduct audits to qualify for an MHSA SECOR, through the PIR program.
