Additional elective credits may be eligible from the MHSA e-learning offerings available through the BIStrainer LMS platform. In addition, Post-Secondary equivalencies related specifically to health and safety may be considered. See application form for more details.

Safety Proficiency Review

The Safety Proficiency Review is there to help prove your skill and experience in health and safety. If needed, it can also show us where we can offer guidance in helping you progress in the health and safety industry.

To complete this review, you will need to lead the following activities and/or supply the following documentation:

  • Formal Hazard Assessment

  • Field Level Hazard Assessment

  • Emergency Response or Drill

  • Worksite Inspection Record

  • Incident Investigation Report

  • Safety Meeting Minutes

Once you are ready to submit the review, please fill out the application forms and follow the directions to submit it.


Program Completion and Certification

When you have completed all of the above requirements, submit your completed MSO/MSA application for evaluation to mso@mhsa.ab.ca. If you are applying for your MSO make sure to include a letter of recommendation from your employer.

Next steps:

  • The regional MSO/MSA Coordinator will contact you to coordinate testing

  • A testing guide will be provided so you can prepare yourself for the examination
