Fall Protection Course (OSSA-Accredited)

Anyone who plans to work at heights should receive fall protection training to learn how to keep themselves and others safe. With our OSSA fall protection, Edmonton and other Alberta workers will receive an OSSA-accredited certification upon successful completion of the course.

Course Description

This 1-day Industrial/Commercial End User course is designed to prepare participants on the thorough understanding of the uses of fall protection. This course covers the many options that exist for working at heights, and will identify which option is best for your needs. This course is delivered in 8 hours that includes both theory and hands on activities using video analysis, and plenty of student participation.

Each participant will be required to declare they are physically capable of performing the Controlled Weight Transfer. If a participant cannot partake in this activity, the OSSA accreditation will not be in effect.

  • Clearance and free fall calculations

  • Harness fitting

  • Equipment care, use and maintenance

  • Suspension Trauma

  • Rescue principles

Upon completion of this course you will know how to:

  • Correctly chose, fit and use the most effective methods of Fall Protection

  • Have successfully completed the Controlled Weight Transfer

  • Understand equipment specifications, limitations, care and maintenance

  • Understand the need for prompt rescue

  • Understand methods of eliminating fall hazard

Note: Participants must achieve 80% or more in the written exam to meet the Minimum OSSA requirements.
