What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you’ll be a trusted partner to MHSA members by:
Facilitating MHSA courses in-person, virtually, or on-site
Coordinating training schedules and supporting program delivery
Leading on-site consultations, inspections, hazard assessments, and safety presentations
Promoting MHSA services and building strong relationships with member companies
Responding to member inquiries with accurate, timely information
Traveling across Alberta (shared use of company vehicle or mileage reimbursement provided)
Supporting special projects and initiatives that advance safety culture
What We’re Looking For
Experience: Minimum 2 years in occupational health and safety (manufacturing or related field)
Education: OHS certificate or equivalent education/experience (MSO/MSA designation and MHSA Auditor certification are strong assets)
Skills:
Confident communicator and public speaker
Strong facilitation skills (in-person and virtual via Microsoft Teams)
Tech-savvy with MS Office Suite and online platforms
Independent worker who thrives in a team environment
Extras:
Overhead crane, rigging, or forklift experience is a plus
Knowledge of Alberta OH&S Act, Regulations, Code, and WCB policies
Environmental safety experience is an asset
Requirements: Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and clean driver’s abstract

Health & Safety Specialist - Carpenter Canada Co (Calgary)
Carpenter Canada Co. has an immediate opening for a Health & Safety Specialist at our Calgary, AB manufacturing plant.
Carpenter Canada Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and coordinate health & safety programs, conduct inspections, and audits; as well as, health & safety meetings and training sessions.
Responsibilities and Duties
Monitor safety performance and conduct health & safety audits and inspection activities;
Provide direction as a subject matter expert on the application and interpretation of health & safety rules, procedures, and standards.
Identify hazardous conditions, determines and establishes safe procedures and controls, and implements and enforces standard safe work procedures.
Assist with the development of written safety policies, procedures, work practices, and guidance documents.
Ensure all personnel is trained in safety protocols and programs associated with their work.
Conduct health & safety training sessions.
Assist with the development and coordination of emergency response procedures.
Respond to emergency calls or events and assist as needed.
Participate in all incident investigations, draft reports, and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
Manage WCB account, modified work programs, and applicable reports.
Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma or GED. Post-secondary education is an asset.
3 - 5 years of health & safety experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act & Regulations, WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR training.
Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Demonstrated communication skills.
Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and can-do attitude.
Must possess high-level proficiency with MS Office Suite.
COR auditor experience is an asset.
