The Manufacturers’ Health and Safety Association (MHSA) is seeking a knowledgeable, confident, and people-focused Safety Advisor to support companies in improving health and safety performance across Alberta’s manufacturing sector.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Regional Manager, this role supports MHSA member companies and industry by delivering safety training, conducting on-site visits, and providing practical, regulation-based guidance.
You will work directly with employers and workers across Alberta to improve compliance, reduce risk, and strengthen workplace safety performance.
What You’ll Do
Facilitate MHSA health and safety training courses in-person, virtually, and on employers’ sites
Support training schedules and program delivery
Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety consultations
Deliver safety presentations and support a positive safety culture
Respond to member inquiries with accurate and timely guidance on OHS requirements
Build and maintain strong relationships with MHSA member companies
Travel in Alberta to support field-based member needs
Support special projects and initiatives that advance workplace safety
What You Bring
Minimum 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety
Experience in manufacturing environments is required
Confidence in public speaking and facilitating.
OHS certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong understanding of Alberta OHS and WCB legislation
Experience delivering training (in-person and virtual platforms such as Microsoft Teams)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and clean driver’s abstract
MSO/MSA designation and MHSA Auditor certification considered strong assets
Forklift, rigging, or overhead crane experience preferred
Environmental health and safety experience is an asset

Work Environment

The Manufacturers’ Health and Safety Association (MHSA) is seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader to guide the organization into its next phase of growth.
This is an opportunity to shape direction, build meaningful partnerships, and deliver real impact across industry, while working closely with an engaged Board and committed stakeholders. This is not an operational role; it is a growth and impact leadership role.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role is responsible for driving strategy, business development, and organizational performance.
You will lead growth initiatives, strengthen industry relationships, and ensure the organization is aligned, sustainable, and positioned as a leader in health and safety.
This role provides leadership to the Regional Managers and to the Director of Corporate Services.
What You’ll Do
· Lead and execute the organization’s strategic plan, translating priorities into measurable outcomes.
· Drive business development and revenue growth through partnerships, sponsorships, and new initiatives.
· Build and strengthen relationships with industry, government, and key stakeholders.
· Lead financial performance, budgeting, and long-term sustainability.
· Align operations, people, and resources to support strategic growth.
· Position MHSA as a trusted voice and thought leader in manufacturing health and safety.
· Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization.
· Drive measurable outcomes aligned with strategic priorities, including growth, engagement, and organizational performance.
What You Bring
7–10+ years of leadership experience in a strategic or growth-focused role,
Proven ability to drive business development and execute strategy,
Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and generate new opportunities,
Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors,
Strong financial acumen and organizational leadership capability,
Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, and
Ability to turn vision into action and deliver measurable results.
Post-secondary education in Business Management or a related field is preferred.
Experience in not-for-profit, association, or industry-based organizations is preferred.
