Course Description

This 4-hour course is a dynamic and engaging course that will provide participants with the knowledge they need to help minimize their risks for musculoskeletal disorders in and out of the workplace.  

Topics include:

  • Musculoskeletal injuries; types, stages

  • How the body works and why it can get injured

  • Risk factors for injury

  • Minimizing risk through safe movement, body mechanics, proper posture

  • Practical lifting and force application techniques

  • Ergonomics and proper use of tools and equipment

  • Importance of posture and flexibility in physical strength

  • Warm-up, stretching and strengthening

By the end of this course you will:

  • Create an effective back injury prevention program

  • Perform task Physical Demands Analysis and lifting Hazard Assessments

  • Develop and implement safe lifting practices to prevent back injury
