She cares about ensuring workers perform their duties safely so everyone can go home at the end of the day, and she's passionate about learning how and why workplace injuries occur to help prevent them.

Topic: The future direction of PIR and the COR auditing program
Amy MacDougall is an occupational health and safety leader with more than 20 years of public-sector experience spanning workplace safety, business continuity, emergency management, leadership and organizational development. As a Partnerships Consultant with Alberta Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration, she collaborates with stakeholders across the province to support the quality, integrity and continuous improvement of Alberta’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) program.
Throughout her career, Amy has led safety initiatives, emergency-preparedness programs, audits, training and organizational change. She is recognized for her practical approach to problem-solving, collaborative leadership style and commitment to creating psychologically safe, inclusive and high-performing workplaces.
Amy holds credentials in Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Psychologically Safe Leadership and business continuity. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management through Athabasca University and pursuing her Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation.
Logan Tannahill

Topic: Fit for Duty, But Not Fit to Work: The Risk Layer Your Safety Program Can't See
Logan Tannahill is the Owner and Director of Business Development at Shift OHS, a Red Deer-based fitness-for-duty partner for safety-sensitive industries. His work centers on cognitive readiness. an emerging layer of fitness for duty built on a simple premise: for thirty years, the safety industry measured what was easy to see and drew the boundary around safety too small. Fatigue, stress, mental health, and illness quietly degrade a worker's attention, reaction time, and judgment, and none of it shows up on a checklist or a drug test.
Working with employers across manufacturing, transportation, construction, and oil and gas, Logan helps safety leaders make the invisible, visible. So, they can act on what their old tools were never built to detect.
His conviction is simple: every worker deserves to come home, and the systems we built were never designed to see what's actually causing harm.

Donald MacDonald is the Chief Service Officer at EWI Works International Inc., Western Canada’s leading ergonomics company. With more than 24 years in ergonomics consulting, he holds a Master of Science in Ergonomics from Loughborough University and is a Certified Canadian Professional Ergonomist (CCPE). Based in Calgary, Donald oversees EWI Works’ consultants and manages relationships with many of the company’s largest clients. He is known for delivering practical, high‑quality solutions that improve workplace health and safety. Donald has experience in many industries including; oil & gas, transportation, manufacturing, food processing, municipalities and aerospace. He regularly presents at ergonomics and safety conferences.
Terence Schofield

With over 15 years of OHS experience spanning construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, safety associations, and post-secondary education, Terence brings a well-rounded and practical lens to workplace safety. He holds multiple industry-recognized designations and is known for fostering collaboration to create synergies between safety, legislative compliance, and operational productivity.
Terence believes that everyone is a safety leader, and is passionate about building self-awareness and engagement at all levels of an organization. His leadership is grounded in the belief that effective safety culture comes from shared ownership, clear communication, and proactive education.
In addition to his professional work, Terence serves as the Director of Emergency Management for the Village of Linden since 2021 and volunteers with the Parkland Regional Safety Committee furthering a passion for safety and emergency preparedness. David Parfitt is a manufacturing and safety professional with more than three decades of industry experience. Since beginning his career in 1994, he has developed extensive expertise in industrial fabrication, quality assurance and occupational safety. He currently serves as Safety Coordinator at Scott Springfield Manufacturing, where he draws on his shop-floor experience to strengthen safety compliance and workplace culture.
A Journeyman Welder, Welding Engineer and certified CWB Welding Inspector, David brings a highly technical and practical understanding of manufacturing operations. His hands-on background gives him valuable insight into the hazards, ergonomic demands and operational challenges tradespeople encounter every day.
A graduate of the University of Calgary, David bridges the areas of engineering, production and safety. His approach to hazard mitigation combines technical knowledge with empathy for the people performing the work, supporting Scott Springfield Manufacturing’s commitment to both employee well-being and world-class manufacturing.
Rachel Ann MacGillivray

Topic: Generational Differences and Challenges in the Workplace & Panel Discussion
Rachel graduated from the University of Calgary in 1998 with a BA in Sociology, concentrating in Groups and Organizations. With over 20 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resource Management, Rachel has worked in a variety of business environments, including: oil & gas, financial, health and family care services, retail, manufacturing and national sport; within the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
Areas of specialization have included recruitment/selection, benefits/compensation strategies, performance management, policy development, succession planning, employee relations, EDI and group learning facilitation. More recently, she has added mentorship and the guidance of developing leaders.
Open and honest communication, coupled with practicality and adaptability, makes Rachel a valued voice and contributor to her assortment of clients. Her relaxed and confident approach to Human Resources instills comfort and trust in her clients, and her sense of humour never hurts. She is passionate about her work and feels strongly that a healthy and happy workplace is the responsibility of everyone working in it, and that looking forward to Monday is possible!
Sean Hlushak

Sean Hlushak is a Mobile Crane and Rigging Instructor at SAIT’s Point Trotter Campus with more than 15 years of hands-on industry experience. A Red Seal Crane Operator and former Primary Care Paramedic, Sean brings a unique combination of technical expertise, field experience and safety knowledge to the classroom.
At SAIT, he works with both newcomers finding their footing in the trades and experienced professionals upgrading their skills or transitioning into new roles. This gives Sean valuable insight into current workforce gaps, what attracts people to the trades and what keeps experienced workers engaged and growing.
Currently completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Sean is also interested in how people learn, what motivates career change and how post-secondary education can create stronger pathways into the trades. He is a proud advocate for skilled trades careers and their essential role in the future workforce.
